Are you having trouble sharing your screen?

There are a couple reasons why screenshare does not work. Find them listed below.

Turn off screenshare in other apps

Make sure you're not sharing your screen in another application (e.g,. Zoom, Video recording software, Slack etc.).

Screenshare not permitted on device

Make sure your computer allows you to share your screen. This is aimed towards mac users.

  • Mac: Go in System preferences --> Security & Privacy --> Privacy Tab --> Screen Recording and tick the box next to Google Chrome to allow access

Black screen - Minimized

Make sure that the window you are sharing is not minimized! If it is minimized, it will not show up properly in Kosy.

Black screen - Hardware Acceleration

Another reason why you see a black screen, is hardware acceleration. This usually makes a browser faster, but unfortunately can also cause problems.

You will need to disable hardware acceleration for screen sharing to work, here is how.

1. Open Chrome Settings

Press the three dots in the top-right corner of your browser, then click 'settings'.

2. Click Advanced
You'll find the 'Advanced' button at the very bottom of your Chrome settings window, underneath the 'On startup' section,

In the Settings menu, expand the “Advanced” drop-down section found in the left sidebar and then select “System.”

3. Toggle 'Use hardware acceleration when available' off, and press the 'Relaunch' button to apply the changes.

4. Open Kosy, or refresh Kosy and try sharing your screen.

It may also be needed to close Chrome and open it again before the changes take effect.
